Internet Realy Chat.

One of the more popular Clients is MIRC for Windows.

I just need to find a bot or something to sit in the channel to give people OP status.

IRC is older than the world wide web, it's a chat program with chat rooms, meaning you talk to several people at the same time.

Tr: if you find a decent server you don't need a bot...

irc.quakenet.org , only because a lot of games use their servers.
